PURPOSE: A field emitter and a method thereof are provided to achieve improved endurance and overall performance of device, and to increase adhesion by adhering CNT(Carbon Nano Tube) to discharge tip at Si protrusion. CONSTITUTION: A field emitter of a field emission display comprises a plurality of discharge tips(26) on a cathode(28) of the rear substrate(29). A discharge tip include a Si protrusion(26a) on the cathode and CNT(26c) adhered to a Si protrusion. A fabrication method comprises a step of preparing a first middle assembly by forming Si protrusion of predetermined shape on cathode of the rear substrate; a step of creating solution by dissolving purified CNT powder in the solvent; a step of arranging fixed size electrode plate into the vessel after pouring a treatment solution into the vessel; a step of mounting on the first middle assembly in the vessel. On this occasion, Si protrusion is reversed for facing electrode plate, and the first middle assembly is arranged for maintaining uniform spacing between Si protrusion and electrode plate in the vessel; a step of fabricating a second middle assembly by attaching CNT on Si protrusion and by applying external sources of electricity between cathode of the first middle assembly and an electrode plate; a step of drying the second middle assembly.
