PURPOSE: A lighting device and an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) using the same to restrain display luminance degradation and reduce motion unclearness or afterimage in moving picture display are provided to restrain a consumption power, be small in size, and be light in weight. CONSTITUTION: An optical source control unit(22) of a control circuit(16) synchronized to a latch pulse signal(LP) outputted from a gate driver control unit(18) to a gate driver(12) outputs a light emitting control signal to respective optical source power circuits(35-38). The respective optical source power circuits convert light emitting states of CCFLs(Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamps)(30-33) into one of the first to third limiting emitting states, and lights an LCD panel(2) from a rear surface of a display region.
