A washing machine being possible to sense the hardness of water and washing method for the same

PURPOSE: A washing machine for measuring hardness of washing water and a washing method are provided to select an optimum washing method and operate the washing machine according to hardness by installing a sensing device of conductivity to an open hole of an air chamber. CONSTITUTION: A washing machine for measuring hardness of washing water includes a cabinet, an outer tub(56), an inner tub, a motor and a sensing device(66) of conductivity. The outer tub holds washing water. The inner tub is arranged inside the outer tub to receive the laundry. A pulsator is installed to the inner tub to form water current in washing. The motor is arranged to a lower portion of the outer tub to drive the pulsator and the inner tub. The sensing device of conductivity is mounted to a side of the outer tub to sense conductivity of washing water. Thereby, washing efficiency is improved by operating the washing machine in an optimum washing method according to conductivity of washing water.
