PURPOSE: A device for playing a moving image capable of performing a quick search by a specification of a search section is provided to display thumbnail screens for I(Infra) frames located at certain time intervals on a display screen, so that a user can immediately select a desired scene, thereby reducing a search time. CONSTITUTION: An input portion(110) receives a picture search-related command to quickly search a desired moving image screen. A data reading portion(130) accesses a recording medium where moving image data including I frames is recorded, and reads the moving image data. A display portion(140) displays thumbnail screens relative to the I frames and/or moving images by the moving image data. A controller(120) calculates an I frame extraction time, extracts the I frames based on the I frame extraction time, generates the thumbnail screens relative to each frame, and displays the thumbnail screens on the display portion(140).
