SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PROVIDING SHORT MESSAGE HISTORY

PURPOSE: A system and method for providing a short message history are provided to receive and store a short message that is or is not transferred to a mobile terminal and provide it to a subscriber upon request. CONSTITUTION: When an originator terminal creates and sends a short message(S101), an origination MSC(Mobile Switching Center) transmits it to an SMSC(Short Message Service Center)(S102). The SMSC extracts receiver information and requests an HLR(Home Location Register) to transmit a position of a corresponding receiver(S103). The HLR transmits receiver location information to the SMSC(S104). The SMSC receives the position information, confirms that the receiver is a short message history service subscriber, and transmits a short message to a destination MSC(S105). The destination MSC transmits the short message to the receiver and a corresponding response signal to the SMSC(S106). The SMSC transmits the transmission-completed short message to a short message history providing system(S107). The short message history providing system transmits a response signal to the SMSC in response to receipt of the short message(S108).
