PURPOSE: A device for preventing wrong operation of a motor in an electric power steering system is provided to operate the motor normally, and to prevent troubles of the motor by using an output signal from an EPS(Electric Power Steering) control unit and a torque signal from a torque sensor. CONSTITUTION: A device for preventing wrong operation of a motor is composed of a torque sensor(10) detecting a torque signal of a steering wheel; an EPS ECU(electronic control unit,20) controlling operation of the motor according to the output by performing wrong operation preventive software logic corresponding to the torque signal from the torque sensor or by deciding the torque signal from the torque sensor, and preventing troubles of the motor; and a motor(30) driven according to control of the EPS ECU. The EPS ECU comprises an EPS control unit(21), a wrong operation preventing circuit(22), a motor driving circuit(23), a torque signal decision circuit(24), and an OR gate(25).
