PURPOSE: Provided are a device for automatically extracting a gel fragment containing a developed a DNA band for analysis of a gene and a UV illuminator using the same, therefore a researcher can avoids the harmful workings to be exposed to toxic chemicals and UV and the DNA containing gel fragment can be rapidly and correctly extracted. CONSTITUTION: The device for automatically extracting the gel fragment containing a developed DNA band comprises an extractor(20) consisting of two separated rails(15), movable operation platform(16), a vessel containing a DNA developed gel, and a pipetting means(25) which extracts only the DNA band containing gel and inserts the extracted gel into the vessel; and a moving means which moves the extractor(20) in order for the pipetting means(25) to be positioned in a correct DNA site within the vessel(24) and for the extracted gel to be inserted into the vessel(24), wherein the moving means comprises an X-axis moving motor(21) which operates a screw(22), a Y-axis moving motor(19) which operates a wheel(18), and a Z-axis moving motor(27) which moves the pipette of the pipetting means(25) vertically.
