The expansion strip (1) is a one piece metal strip whose centre section (4) has at least one deformation fold (8) of V-shaped cross-section whilst the two edge flange strips (5) are each separated from the centre section by longitudinal ribs (11). The deformation fold can be adjoined by flat strips having tear-of adhesive strips.
