Infrared radiator has a steam protection formed as a peripheral vessel for enclosing a lamp vessel and a reflecting layer in a gas-tight manner

Infrared radiator (1) comprises a gas-tight lamp vessel (2) made from silica glass and containing an electrical heat conductor (4) with two ends. Both ends are electrically connected via a current leadthrough with an electrical connection outside of the lamp vessel. The lamp vessel is partially radially surrounded by a reflecting layer (8) which is provided with a steam protection made from silica glass. The protection is formed as a peripheral vessel (7) for enclosing the lamp vessel and the reflecting layer in a gas-tight manner. The lamp vessel and the peripheral vessel are spaced in the region of the reflecting layer. An Independent claim is also included for a process for the production of an infrared radiator.
