The mirror (1) includes a housing (2) and a mirror element provided in the housing. An operation element (5) is provided at the housing for triggering a function of the motor vehicle. The operation element is protected against unintentional operation. Two operation elements can be provided, wherein the function is only triggered when both elements are operated simultaneously. An emergency signal can be transmitted to an emergency call receiver when operating the operation element using a mobile radio network. Position data can also be transmitted using e.g. GPS system.
