An advertising system has a brick shaped rectangular panel (1) mounted on a horizontal shaft attached to a motor (7), to display either side of the panel, e.g. in a time varying display. A number of similar panels (2 to 6) is slung under the top panel by a pattern of support cords looped over the panels in such a way that when the top panel is reversed the other panels follow. The cord support system has an inherent time delay to produce a wave effect when the overall display is changed. This enhances the visual effect and attracts the attention of viewers. The panels can be replaced by other shapes, e.g. triangular cross section, for added effects.
