PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an accident steel tower deducing method and an accidental thunder deducing method, capable of deducing an accident steel tower with which a grounding fault or the like causing a thunder accident occurs, and deducing an accidental thunder that caused the accident, such as grounding fault with the accident steel tower.;SOLUTION: The method for deducing an accident thunder that causes an accident, such as earth fault or the like with a steel tower which causes shutting down of power transmission and deducing the accident steel tower include a step (g) which acquires a distance between a steel tower supporting an accident power transmission line, where shutting down of power transmission occurs and the point of lightning strike, based on the information about lightning that has occurred within one second before/after shutting down of power transmission, and specifying the lightning strike and the steel tower within 1 km range; a step (h) which acquires the range of lightning strike current value that causes the same accident as before with that steel tower, based on the thunder resistance performance of the specified steel tower; and a step (i) which estimates a lightning strike whose lightning strike current value is within the range of the lightning strike current value to be an accident thunder, by collating the range of lightning strike current value with a lightning strike current value of the specified lightning strike, and assumes the steel tower which is to be collated for the estimated lightning strike to be the accident steel tower.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
