PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem wherein while the amplitude/phase of each element antenna is measured by changing the phase of a phase shifter corresponding to each element antenna in a conventional manner, such measurement can not be made in conventional methods, since an optical control type array antenna is not provided with a phase shifter.;SOLUTION: In the optically controlled array antenna, the frequency of one light wave from a light wave generating means distributed by a light wave distributer is deviated and modulated only by the frequency of a radio signal to be inputted by a frequency shifter, and the modulated light wave is transformed into a beam shape, corresponding to the shape of a predetermined antenna radiation pattern, then is subjected to Fourier transformation of amplitude distribution and phase distribution by a second transforming means. The optically controlled array antenna is provided with a third transforming means for freely transforming the phase of the other light wave from the light wave distributer, and the light wave from the third transforming means and the light wave from a second radiation means are compounded by a combining means; the radiated light wave is sampled by a sampling means, and transformed into a plurality of light waves; and they are converted into radio signals by a photoelectric conversion means, and are radiated into space by a plurality of patch antennas.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
