START-UP CONTROL METHOD OF SPINDLE MOTOR, DISK DRIVE, AND MOTOR CONTROL METHOD

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling the start up of a spindle motor capable of shortening a time required for the spindle motor to reach a target speed. PSOLUTION: The method for controlling the start of the spindle motor of a disc drive includes a step of measuring a power supply voltage value which is supplied, and a step of calculating the maximum current value that can be supplied to the spindle motor within maximum tolerable power of starting the spindle motor corresponding to the power supply voltage value by applying a spindle motor start current corresponding to the calculated maximum current value. Thus, the spindle motor is started by calculating a maximum start current applicable to the spindle motor according to the supplied power source voltage while taking into consideration the maximum tolerable power consumption of the disc drive.
