PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excavating-advancing device, which can conduct an excavation and a advancing stably, minimally inhibiting the collapse of a facing due to the looseness of a natural ground and is available for constructing a pipe line having a rectangular cross section.;SOLUTION: In the excavating-advancing device having the rectangular cross section, in which a jacking pipe H having the rectangular cross section is connected at the rear end of an excavator 1 and pushed out in the excavating direction and the jacking pipe H having the rectangular cross section is extended, excavating the ground G by the excavator 1 and which constructs the pipe line having the rectangular cross section in the ground, two upper-lower horizontal rotating shafts 2 orthogonal in the excavating direction are installed while positions are displaced so that the upper side is projected in the excavating direction from the lower side at the front end section of the excavator 1 in the excavator 1.
