TETRACYCLINE REPRESSOR REGULATED MAMMALIAN CELL TRANSCRIPTION AND VIRAL REPLICATION SWITCH

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide many various compositions and methods, both having such common characteristics as to have gene expression regulated by a tet (tetracycline)-operator/repressor system. PSOLUTION: A recombinant protein formed by host cells yielded by transfection by recombinationally treated viruses is provided. The host cell includes, in its genome, (a) a recombination promotor having a TATA element, (b) at least one tet-operator sequence starting in the range of from the last nucleotide of the TATA element to 6-nucleotide or at its downstream side, and (c) a gene which is at the 3' side of the operator and operably linked to the promotor and inhibits the replication of viruses when expressed.
