METHOD FOR DISPLAYING SITUATION OF TRAFFIC CONGESTION AND VEHICLE-MOUNTED INFORMATION TERMINAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display method capable of easily grasping the conditions of traffic congestion of overall routes in a screen display of the situations of traffic congestion performed on the basis of VICS information etc.;SOLUTION: The distances of each congestion level of smooth traffic; light traffic congestion; and heavy traffic congestion set in congestion information by the VICS information are accumulated for all the guidance routes 22 including parts not displayed on a screen. The ratio of accumulated distances at each level of congestion to the distance of all the guidance routes is computed to creat and display a VICS information bar 30 with the ratio as graph elements 30a-30c. The situations of traffic congestion of all the guidance routes 22 are thereby displayed in the case that not all the guidance routes are displayed within the screen and even in the case of a wide-area map in which the situations of traffic congestion are not displayed.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
