PURPOSE: To obtain a composition a composition having effect capable of protecting human and animals from infectious diseases due to pathogenic microorganisms such as bacteria, virus, fungus and yeasts, e.g. diarrhea, food poisoning, bacillary food poisoning, sepsis, penetration of microorganisms to organs such as alimentary canal, decreasing dose of antibiotics, etc., and having effect capable of relieving adverse effects due to the antibiotics, etc. CONSTITUTION: This composition contains a peptide mixture partitioned by hydrolyzate of lactoferrin, (a) capable of protecting infection due to pathogenic microorganisms in vivo, (b) not exhibiting antimicrobial action in vitro, (c) having =42,000 molecular weight measured by SDS-polyacrylamide electrophoresis and (d) having =20% sugar content as an active ingredient.
