Symbiotic mutant of Pisum sativum L. peas

The present invention relates to a symbiotic peaÆs mutant (Pisum sativum L.) of the "Bohat²r" (Hero) cultivar that does not create symbiosis with soil microorganisms. The invention further relates to said mutant reproduction material such as seeds, pollen, tissue and cell cultures, individual cells, the complete plant or a portion thereof, a genetic material such as DNA, RNA and fragments thereof as well as vectors comprising them. Process for preparing the invented symbiotic mutant comprises mutagenesis of the "Bohat²r" cultivar to give mutants, which form defective root tubercles, and subsequent selection of a mutant having desired properties. The invention also relates to the use of the invented mutant as a reference line for assessment symbiotic fixation of nitrogen in the "Bohat²r" cultivar as well as its use as a genetic material source.
