The invention relates to control engineering for gas pipeline valve emergency shutoff systems in the case of deviation of pumping modes from normal process. The inventive method consists in comparing an actual pressure value in the pipeline with the pressure measured a specified time period back and in forming a control action in order to shutoff a valve when the pressure is lowered at a value which is higher than a specified threshold value. The difference from the known methods lies in that the matrixes of current pressure values measured during an interval which is smaller than the specified interval are formed cyclically in a discretisation interval of the pressure measurement, data are filtered and approximated in time by means of traditional analytical models or by neural networks. Afterwards, data is interpolated to the end of the specified time interval, the control action is formed when the interpolated values of the pressure difference of the specified threshold value is higher by number of times corresponding to the number of discretisation intervals remaining before the end of the specified time interval. Said invention increases the reliability and fidelity of the formation of a control signal for the valve emergency shutoff.
