Based on the relative positions of the stitches of a knitting fabric to the stitches on the upper and lower sides and right and left sides thereof, the movement amount of the stitches of the knitting fabric is determined according to specified rules and the stitches are moved. The movement of the stitches is repeated until the positions of the stitches are converged. Then the stitches are positioned at the converged values of the stitch positions and displayed.
