摘要

PURPOSE: A plasma display panel is provided to achieve improved contrast of screen by suppressing reflection of light applied from an external source. CONSTITUTION: A plasma display panel comprises a first substrate(2) and a second substrate(4) opposed with each other; discharge sustain electrodes(20,22) and address electrodes(14) arranged on the first substrate and the second substrate, respectively; barrier ribs(6) disposed in the space formed between the first substrate and the second substrate so as to form discharge cells(8R,8G,8B) and non-discharge regions(10); phosphor layers(18R,18G,18B) formed in the respective discharge cells; and external light absorbing portions(12) formed on an outer surface of the first substrate such that the external light absorbing portions correspond to the respective non-discharge regions. The non-discharge regions are arranged in the area surrounded by horizontal and vertical axes passing through the centers of discharge cells.
