METHOD FOR INPUTTING CHINESE CHARACTERS IN A MOBILE PHONE, PARTICULARLY FOR ALLOWING A USER TO SELECT A CHINESE CHARACTER IN AN INPUT MODE AND THEN DIRECTLY INPUT A PHONETIC SYMBOL IN A SELECT MODE

摘要

PURPOSE: A method for inputting chinese characters in a mobile phone is provided to allow a user to simply input a chinese character through a small number of key manipulations by supporting both input mode and select mode. CONSTITUTION: A mobile phone enters a phonetic symbol input mode by executing a Chinese language input unit(S1). When a user inputs a phonetic symbol(S2), Chinese characters corresponding to the phonetic symbol are displayed on a screen(S3). The user checks whether a hot key has been allocated to a Chinese character desired to be inputted(S4). If a hot key has been allocated, the user selects the Chinese character by using the hot key in the input mode(S5). If a hot key has not been allocated, the user presses an OK button to enter a select mode(S6). The user moves a cursor to an area where the desired character is positioned and selects the character(S7).
