Preparation holder (10) for holding a preparation in a microtome or an ultra-microtome, whereby the holder is assembled in a number of part and has an insert (12) for holding the preparation in a base body (16). A holding ring (14) is provided for temporary containment of the insert. It is detachably connected to the base body. The invention also relates to use of the preparation holder in an atomic force microscope.
