The column or channel is provided via linear guides having guide rails fastened under the ground surface. The guides do not extend through the shaft opening and the shaft opening has a four sided closed contour in which the supply column or channel fits. When the column is in the withdrawn position the shaft opening is closed. Preferably the supply column unit is modular and formed without welding and enables units such as apparatus cabins, guide baskets, guide rails, lifting mechanisms and cables to be exchanged.
