The device is for fitting a belt into belt drive with at least two belt pulleys (1,2). It has a belt bearer (3) with support unit (4) and a support bell (5), which is moved between tension and release positions. When in tension position, the bell supports and expands the belt in such a way, that both are positioned above the running area of a belt pulley. During bell movement from tension into release position, the belt is moved into the belt pulley groove an tensioned between the pulleys. The belt is pivoted on the support unit via a shaft journal (6), and it has a thin-walled hollow-cylindrical tension section (7) extending through an angle of 180[deg].
