The armchair has a seat squab (2) and a backrest (3), at least one of which has a number of chambers (13) providing air cushions (4,5) which can be adjusted cyclically via a common control unit (7) having a clock variation generator (8) for altering the cycle duration for adjustment of the air cushions, e.g. a random generator for stochastic control of the chambers.
