Production of a traction impulse between electrically conducting structures (I, II, III) comprises preparing three electrically conducting structures insulated from each other and lying next to each other, producing a magnetic field on the outer conducting structures and switching off the magnetic field so that a current is induced in the second or third structures (II, III) leading to the formation of a traction force between the two structures. An independent claim is also included for a device for producing traction impulses. Preferred Features: The thickness of the second conducting structure (II) is less than or the same as the penetration depth caused when the magnetic field is switched off.
