PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a literature reference system or the like capable of referring to references related to a prescribed literature and reducing labor load, time load, etc. concerned with the reference.;SOLUTION: A retrieving terminal apparatus 3 reads out tag information including the identifier of an original literature 13 and a reference destination to a book information server 7 from an IC tag 15 attached to the original literature 13, receives a retrieving condition and transmits the tag information and the retrieving condition to a literature server 5. The library server 5 extracts first information concerned with references from a library database 19 on the basis of the tag information and the retrieving condition, accesses the book information server 7 on the basis of the reference destination included in the tag information and transmits the tag information and the retrieving condition. The book information server 7 extracts second information concerned with the references from the book database 23 on the basis of the tag information and the retrieving condition and sends the second information to the library server 5.
