PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide book sublease technology utilizing network, with which books owned by each of registered users can be effectively utilized by sublease without requiring much costs for managing a library or the like by performing the centralized management of localization of books while enabling the sublease books at a registered user level.;SOLUTION: In this book sublease supporting system, the present owner of each of books, which can be leased, is registered on a book DB 43, the authentication information of a reading applicant is received and collated with user authentication information registered in an authenticating server 41, and the information on the book desired to read by the reading applicant is received. Then, the book DB is retrieved, the present owner of the relevant book desired to read is specified, and information related to the present owner of the desired book is extracted from the authenticating server. Then, mail reporting the desired book and the reading applicant is transmitted to the present owner by a mail server 44, and reply mail showing the acceptance/ refusal of lease is transmitted from the present owner to the reading applicant.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
