PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for more simply and efficiently reducing the α-linolenic acid content in a plant cell.;SOLUTION: The method for reducing the α-linolenic acid content in the plant cell comprises expressing a mutant ω-3 fatty acid desaturase gene in which nonsense mutation is transferred to the ω-3 fatty acid desaturating enzyme gene in the plant cell.
