PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video camera and a station in which the number of operation buttons on a camera body is reduced and its operability is improved by enabling the station to control the operation of the camera body when the camera body is connected to the station. PSOLUTION: When a multiple connector of the camera body is connected to a multiple connector 31 of the station, the camera body recognizes that the station is connected on the basis of discrimination information showing the kind of an accessory inputted from a terminal (ADP-SEL) for accessory discrimination of the multiple connector 31 to change the operation mode of the camera body to a VTR mode. In the camera body, an operation switch and an infrared remote control receiver of the camera body side become inoperable, and the camera body is controlled by a control signal applied from an operation switch 33 or remote control light receiving part 34 of the station side through a terminal (LANC data) for remote control.
