PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for selecting Internet routing paths whereby a time it takes for a network to converge is reduced.;SOLUTION: Since a next available path is selected as a best available path when the next available path is substantially better than a pre-existing path and the pre-existing path is selected as the best available path when the next available path is not substantially better than the pre-existing path, network convergence is greatly reduced because new routing paths are only selected when they are substantially better than pre-existing, best available paths.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
