PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a work retaining and releasing method in a work feeding device for a press for easily changing the release time of a belt-like work with the work feeding device in accordance with various kinds of dies.;SOLUTION: The belt-like work is fed between an upper die which is provided on the movable body of a press and a lower die which is provided on the bed by holding it with the work feeding device for a press. By releasing the holding of the belt-like work on the basis of a signal outputted from a detector in accordance with the starting of press forming, positional deviation is enabled between the upper and lower dies and also a timer means is started up. When a prescribed release time is counted with the timer means, the belt-like work is again held.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
