The invention relates to a textile machine comprising at least one drive electric motor and/ or a power supply generator, wherein said electric motor and generator comprise rotor discs provided with iron yokes and permanent magnets (27) on the internal faces and a stator crown which is disposed between said elements consists of axially disposed individual coils (30). A hub (36) is embodied in the form of a radial ventilator and holds two rotor discs (26a, 26b) at a distance. Magnetic flux circulates exclusively between the rotor discs and a spinning crown. Said type of permanent axial field electric motor makes it possible to attain efficiencies of 90 % within large speed ranges, is easily controllable and the casing box thereof is designed according to mechanical criteria only. The inventive electric motor/ generator ideally meets the requirements of textile machines of all types.
