Disclosed is a composition for improving constipation containing a mixed composition of sugar and sugar alcohol in amount and ratio allowing an osmotic pressure to be within a specific range effective in constipation improvement. Since the composition suppresses the intestinal water absorption and increases the intestinal osmotic pressure to alleviate the constipation in a short time (ten hours) without causing diarrhea, it can be used to improve the constipation symptoms and to prevent and treat constipation.
