Insulating layer comprises a mineral fiber body with two large surfaces preferably arranged parallel to each other a distance apart, and side surfaces connecting the large surfaces and consisting of at least two sandwich-like layers (11) having a different bulk density and/or dynamic rigidity. A middle layer (12) arranged between the two layers consists of a tough to brittle material, e.g. a panel made of soft wood fiber, gypsum plaster, gypsum fiber, calcium silicate, porous concrete or fiber cement. The outer layers are longer than the middle layer and protrude at both long ends over the middle layer. Preferred Features: The middle layer is glued to at least one outer layer using a plastic adhesive or a non-flammable water-glass-based adhesive.
