A switching cam follower design especially for controlling the valves in an IC engine has an outer lever (2) between whose arms (3, 4) is mounted an inner lever (5) with a common axis for the levers. The inner lever is aligned on a sprung mounting (10) and supports a roller (11) as a cam follower. The inner lever has a separate sleeve (12) with the axial bore (7) with the spring movement limited by stops to prevent blocking.
