Detector of parts stored on certain storage section, e.g. shelf, particularly individual parts for subsequent manufacture, uses radiation beams directed onto certain storage section. Beam transmitters and receivers are so firmly fitted in front of, next to, or above store section, that large paths can be scanned. Preferably, certain individual parts are located in wire baskets on floor of provided storage zones. Typically infrared transmitters and receivers are used, but ultraviolet or radar beams may be also used.
