The device has a radiation collecting element (110) i.e. cylindrical lens, directing a direct sky radiation (131) and an indirect sky radiation (132) to a storage element (120). The directed radiations are absorbed by the storage element such that the absorbed radiations are converted into thermal energy and retained in the storage element. The storage element is arranged proximal to the collecting element and stores the energy. The storage element is made of carbon material i.e. high pure graphite crystal. The storage element includes a curved surface, where a layer is provided on surface. An independent claim is also included for a method for collecting and storing sky radiation.
