PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small and compact self-ballasted fluorescent lamp of which the outside dimension is almost the same as that of a general incandescent bulb, to provide a luminaire, and to provide its manufacturing method.;SOLUTION: This compact self-ballasted fluorescent lamp is provided with: a fluorescent lamp 20 having an arc tube 21 where the width on the side of a sealing part 25 is smaller than the maximum width in the vicinity of an intermediate part, a phosphor layer on the inside surface of the arc tube 21, and an electrode means capable of energizing a filled discharge medium and a discharge passage; a globe 10 made of glass, and having a nearly-spherical part 12 formed by heating and closing, with the fluorescent lamp 20 housed in the inside, the other end side of an opened cylindrical bulb 15 having an opening 11 reduced in diameter, and having an intermediate part bulged relative to one end side; and a cover body 13 supporting a base 30, the fluorescent lamp 20 and a globe 10 covering the fluorescent lamp 20, and housing a lighting device 41. Since the nearly-spherical part 12 is formed by closing the other end side of the cylindrical bulb 15 with the fluorescent lamp 20 housed therein, heat in closing the cylindrical bulb 15 is prevented from influencing sealing parts of lead wires, thin tubes and the like of sealed parts 25, and thermal degradation of used members of the arc tube 21 can be suppressed.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
