PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for controlling the quantity of planting seedlings in a rice transplanter, capable of detecting the seedlings planted on a paddy field and controlling the quantity of planting seedlings.;SOLUTION: The used quantity of seedlings planted on a paddy field by a seedling planting device 10, the seedling planted area, the distance between the planted seedlings and the traveling speed of a rice transplanter are calculated based on the detection signals of a used seedling quantity detector 14 (rotary encoder 14e) and a planted seedling detection device 15 (the front and rear sensors 15b, 15c composed of a photo-sensor). The quantity of seedlings taken by the seedling planting device 10 is increased or decreased by a controller 23 to perform the transplantation of a prescribed area with a preset number of seedling mats according to the calculated values.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
