PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excavation control method and excavation control system for an excavation mechanism that can improve quantitative discharge performance of an excavation mechanism such as a rake chain type reclaimer and can improve the efficiency of discharge motion.;SOLUTION: The excavation control of the excavation mechanism for excavating a pile C of bulk such as coal or gravel stepwise with reciprocation sets a reverse motion start position E of the excavation mechanism in a given position before an end of the pile C, and starts reverse motion when the excavation mechanism reaches the reverse motion start position E. If the excavation mechanism has a front excavation part and a rear excavation part disposed in the front and rear in a moving direction, the reverse motion of the rear excavation part is preferably started a given time after the reverse motion of the front excavation part is started.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
