The pretreatment of the delivered mixed municipal waste is essential to the aeorbic decomposition and associated heat produced. Bacterial decomposition in the thermophilic temperature range of 63-70 degree Centigrade is employed while ensuring the dissipation of the concomitant heat to the gas in a continuous state of agitation, achieved in digester vessel, inclined at the angle of 5-8 degrees. The 48 hr residence time for the mixed municipal waste eliminates the odor problem and yields 'Green Coal" suitable for use as a supplementary fuel for boiler.
