The transmitter has a touch screen (19) illustrating image data of the transmitter, where data contains configuration of keys, lettering and size of the keys. The data is captured by an image capturing device of a programming device (22). The data is sent to a transmitter unit (17) after image processing. Remote control codes, allocated to definite locations on the screen, are fed to the unit over an input interface of the device (22). An independent claim is also included for a combination of a programming device and a remote control transmitter.
