A pharmaceutical composition for the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders associated with H. pylori infection including a first antibiotic that is an ansamycin, and at least a second antibiotic or antimicrobial agent selected from amoxicillin, tetracycline and bismuth compounds, and an inhibitor of proton pump, together with at least one pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, adjuvant diluent or excipient; where said ansamycin is rifabutin.
