The invention relates to a rapidly soluble granulate that is obtained by (a) the production of an aqueous granulation liquid containing at least one binding agent and (b) the spraying of the granulation liquid obtained in step (a) onto a fluidised bed in a countercurrent at a constant supply air temperature onto a support containing at least one carbohydrate, whereby bromohexine or bromohexine hydrochloride and citric acid are introduced, independently of one another into the granulation liquid and/or onto the support. The invention permits for the first time the provision of a water-soluble granulate containing bromohexine or bromohexine hydrochloride as the active ingredient. Said inventive granulate is water-soluble, despite the fact that the bromohexine or bromohexine hydrochloride is practically insoluble in water, i.e. the granulate dissolves completely in water within a few minutes and releases the active ingredient in its entirety.
