SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PROTECTION OF BROADCASTING AND MULTIMEDIA CONTENTS

A system and a method for protecting broadcasting contents are provided to prevent the broadcasting contents from improper distribution by applying a CAS(Conditional Access System) and a DRM(Digital Rights Management) system to the broadcasting contents. A CAS server scrambles broadcasting contents, broadcasts or multicasts the scrambled broadcasting contents together with an ECM(Entitlement Control Message) through an in-band(S320), and broadcasts or unicasts an EMM(Entitlement Management Message) through an in-band/output of band. A first client terminal receives the broadcasting contents, descrambles the received broadcasting contents, and reproduces/stores the broadcasting contents(S330). The first client performs DRM packaging for super-distribution to convert the broadcasting contents into DRM contents(S350). The first client terminal distributes the DRM contents to at least one second client terminal through a wired/wireless network(S360). The second client terminal purchases an RO(Right Object) and reproduces the DRM contents(S370).
