Provided are a composition which promotes the proliferation of a lactobacillus, lowers the blood triglyceride level and reduces the blood cholesterol level, and a food containing the composition. The composition comprises a Yucca extract; a Quillaja extract; and a lactobacillus. Preferably the ratio of the Yucca extract and the Quillaja extract is 90:10 - 10:90. The lactobacillus comprises one kind of or at least two kinds of lactobacilli, and preferably the freeze-dried one is used. The food containing the composition is a form of solid supplement such as a tablet, a coated tablet, a capsule, a dusting powder, a granule, a stick, etc.; yogurt; or lactobacillus beverage.
