A composition for the prevention and treatment of disease caused by oxidative stresses or cancer disease comprising a PSA (Psammaplin A) compound having anti-oxidative activity or inhibiting activity of tumor cell propagation is provided to remove free radicals and ABTS radical cation, inhibit DNA damage induced by hydroxyl radicals, disturb cell cycle of a cancer cell line, and inhibit mitosis of the cancer cell line. The composition for the prevention and treatment of disease caused by oxidative stresses or cancer disease comprises the PSA compound having anti-oxidative activity or inhibiting activity of tumor cell propagation represented by the formula(I), wherein the PSA compound is isolated from Psammaplysilla; the disease caused by oxidative stresses is cancer, aging, coronary sclerosis, diabetes, epilepsy or neurodegenerative disease; the composition is a pharmaceutical or health food composition; the composition further comprises pharmaceutically or sitologically acceptable carrier, diluent or excipient; and the health food composition has a formulation selected from tablet, capsule, pill or liquid.
